Meanwhile — Privacy
Meanwhile is a slow companion that occasionally offers a question, and otherwise stays quiet. It is designed to keep to itself.
What this app does not do
- It has no accounts and no sign-in.
- It has no server of its own for your data.
- It does not sell data, show ads, or build a profile of you.
- It does not measure engagement, streaks, scores, or rankings.
- It does not share what you write with anyone.
What stays on your device
Notes you choose to leave, and a short record of which questions you have already met, are stored only on your phone. They are not uploaded.
Location and weather
If you allow location access, the app may read a coarse, rounded position once in order to look up local weather and a rough sense of pace. That reading is used for the moment and is not stored as a history of where you have been. You can decline location access; the app still works, more quietly.
Weather is requested from the Open-Meteo service using rounded coordinates. Open-Meteo does not require an account or API key for this use.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app may schedule a sparse local reminder on your device when a question is due — often days apart. These reminders are created on your phone; they are not sent from a remote marketing system. You can turn them off in system settings at any time.
Third parties
Beyond the optional weather lookup described above, the app does not embed analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs that identify you.
Children
Meanwhile is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
